Oval: the belt does not cross the middle
Women’s clothes. The volume sits at the center. November’s air sticks more than October’s, even though the high is lower.
On an oval the volume crosses the waist. A belt there does not define. It splits the body, and when the cloth sticks the line shows more. October’s rain normal is 5.46 inches. The airport-point reanalysis is stickier in November, 78.81%, than in October, 75.10%, even though November’s high is only 72.6 °F. The month the cloth grabs the middle is not the month with the most water in the gauge.

The cloth has to skim, not grab
Thin jersey is the miss in this season. At 75.10% humidity in October, and 78.81% in November, it sucks onto the middle and the oval loses its air. What works is poplin or a cotton with ease: close, not clinging. The rain shell is worn open and falls past the widest point. One that stops at the stomach leaves the volume uncovered at the exact hour the shell should travel with it, not underline it.
Not the calf, and not a borrowed crop
28-inch inseam
A midi cut for 32 inches lands on the calf and puts a line under the volume. The hem at this inseam clears the ankle. It is not gathered in the hand. Wet, the gather drops and weighs.
32-inch regular
Taking the short 28-inch hem and not lengthening it turns the dress into a crop under the volume. The leg disappears and the middle looks longer. At 32 inches the hem also goes to the ankle, on a different pattern length, not the 28-inch hem stretched.
September is not a jersey month either: 90.4 °F, 4.71 inches, and 74.20% humidity at the same point. The wool coat waits for a night that is actually near November’s 51.5 °F low, and even then it comes off indoors if the walk already dampened it. October’s 82.8 °F afternoon is not that night.

Questions
Can an oval wear a belt in Houston fall?
Not across the middle. Airport-point humidity averages 75.10% in October and 78.81% in November. The cloth sticks, and a contrast buckle in the haze is a line across the stomach.
Does a short rain shell help?
Not if it stops at the stomach. It has to pass the widest point, open, without being tied there. A cut at the middle leaves the volume alone.
Is November easier because the high is lower?
Not for cling. November’s high is 72.6 °F and the rain normal is 3.87 inches, less than October’s 5.46. The reanalysis humidity is higher: 78.81%. Jersey still does not enter.
